Programs & Services
Since G.O.A.'Ls inception we have recognized the need for expanded post-adoption services for adult OAKs visiting and living in Korea. While Birth Family Search Assistance (including registration on our website) is free to all OAKs, all other services and programs request that each OAK register as a G.O.A.'L member (see Become a Member!).
The following is a list of current available services and programs for our members.
Events:
- Monthly Meetings
- Seollal (Lunar New Year) Event
- General Meeting (end of February)
- Adoption Day Event (May 11th)
- MT (Membership Training - a retreat for members and volunteers)
- Annual Conference addressing adoption-related issues
- Chuseok (Korean Thanksgiving) Event
- Fall Tour
- Christmas Party & Annual Fundraiser
Programs & Services:
- Birth Family Search Assistance (including consultation, contacting adoption agencies, media referrals, etc.)
- Organizing family reunions & post-reunion support, e.g. counseling/interpretation
- Communication Center: Translating/Interpretation e.g. letters between OAKs and their birthfamilies, and in person visits
- 1:1 Korean language tutoring
- Korean language study scholarship opportunties
- Mentor Program
- General information on living in Korea
- Assistance in accessing basic services, e.g. opening a bank account, setting-up phone service, F4 visa, housing, etc.
- Employer/employee mediation services
- Referrals to partner organizations, e.g. jobs & temporary accommodations, etc.
