G.O.A.'L 2009 Publication

G.O.A.’L is working on our 2009 Publication, and this year’s focus is to create a Living in Korea Guide for Korean Adoptees. We are hoping to include short articles and anecdotes on various topics from adoptees that have lived here for different amounts of time.

We would love your contribution! The article should ideally be 1 to 2 pages double spaced.

Below is a suggestion list:

  • Teaching English (independent, private, or public)
  • Apartment/Housing situations
  • Fun things to do when hanging out
  • Culture shock/lessons/faux pas
  • Dating/Flirting
  • Transportation Tales
  • Working at a non-English speaking job
  • Surviving with little to no knowledge of Korean language
  • Seeking a degree
  • Making friends with non adoptees
  • Organizations/Volunteer experiences (i.e. HOLT, ASK, humanitarian work etc.)
  • Clubs/Sports/Activities
  • Initial reactions v long-term feelings re: living in Korea
  • General advice for those considering to move here
  • Discrimination/racism
  • Anything else

Please submit your completed piece via email to susan.r.hallquist@goal.or.kr by December 11th, 2009.

Also, please attach 1 to 3 pictures via e-mail to accompany your story.

On top of your submission, please include the following information:

  1. Optional Title
  2. Name & Age
  3. Adopted Country
  4. Amount of time spent in Korea

Your contribution is greatly appreciated! We look forward to reading and publishing your work.
