Secretary General

About the Job

We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated overseas Korean adoptee to serve as Secretary General for G.O.A.’L., a non-profit organization supporting Korean adoptees. The Secretary General will lead the organization’s strategic initiatives, manage daily operations, and represent the organization in its mission to provide resources, advocacy, and services for Korean adoptees returning to Korea.

  • Full-time position: 40 hours/week, Monday ~ Friday, 10:00 – 17:00
  • Compensation: To be discussed during the interview process.
  • Workplace: G.O.A.’L. Office – 81 Sambong-ro, Jongno-gu, Seoul, South Korea
    • This is an on-site position and is not eligible for remote or hybrid work.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Management:

  • Develop and implement strategic goals in alignment with the organization’s mission.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations and ensure effective program delivery.
  • Manage and mentor staff and volunteers, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.

Program Oversight:

  • Supervise initiatives such as dual citizenship application assistance, birth family search programs, and support services for overseas adoptees transitioning to life in Korea.
  • Ensure high-quality program execution and evaluate outcomes to enhance effectiveness.

Fundraising and Financial Management:

  • Develop and implement fundraising strategies for program initiatives and operational management.
  • Help manage program budgets, ensuring transparency and alignment with organizational goals.

Community Engagement and Representation:

  • Act as the primary spokesperson for the organization, representing its mission to stakeholders, adoptee communities, and the public.
  • Build partnerships with government agencies, adoptee organizations, and other non-profits to expand support networks in Korea and abroad.

Qualifications:

  • Overseas Korean adoptee or descendant of a Korean adoptee, living in Korea and with the ability to work in Korea (i.e. F-4 visa, Korean citizenship, etc.)
  • At least 5 years of experience in a leadership position, program management, or a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of issues affecting Korean adoptees and adoption laws in Korea.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with fluency in English and intermediate/advanced Korean (preferred). Other languages are also a plus.
  • Proven experience in fundraising, budget management, and team leadership.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment.
  • Passion for supporting the Korean adoptee community and advancing the organization’s mission.

Preferred Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and project management tools.
  • Proficiency in website management, WordPress, membership management systems, etc.
  • Experience in public speaking and community advocacy.
  • Familiarity with non-profit management.
