LANGUAGE SCHOLARSHIPS

Applicants must be a Korean adoptee and a G.O.A.’L. member to be eligible for this scholarship.

G.O.A.’L. offers partial scholarships for Korean adoptees who are interested in studying Korean at some of Seoul’s best-known Korean language programs. The programs offers applicants the chance to study Korean in-depth while living in an immersive environment.

Each program takes place for 4 semesters per year (spring, summer, fall, winter) lasting about 10 weeks each. All programs are 200 hours per semester unless otherwise noted.

Scholarships are only offered for the programs listed below and do not include support for fields of study outside of Korean.

  1. Applying for a scholarship through G.O.A.’L and applying for a spot in a university program are separate processes. Receiving a scholarship from G.O.A.’L. does not guarantee you a spot at the school.
It is highly recommended that all scholarship applicants also apply for the language school of choice as soon as registration opens. The applicant is responsible for applying to the school directly. It doesn’t matter which one you apply to first; the language class or scholarship. Just make sure to apply for the scholarship before the application deadline (please refer to the table of application periods & deadlines above).
  2. The scholarships are only applicable to the programs/terms listed below. The programs below are designed to be immersive and intensive. The schools expect you to attend regularly, review class material after class, as well as complete homework. For further details about class format, please contact the schools directly.
  3. The language schools may also request that G.O.A.’L. send additional information on your behalf. This could include providing other documentation.
  4. Scholarships are non-transferable.Β Please be aware of your availability, class schedule, personal finances, and other commitmentsΒ beforeΒ applying.
  5. We will notify all applicants of their scholarship application results typically about one week after each application period (please refer to the table of application periods & deadlines above). Getting a scholarship at your preferred university is not guaranteed.

Partial scholarships come from an agreement G.O.A.’L. hasΒ with each university and the discounts come directly from the school. G.O.A.’L.’s position is to recommend adoptees for the scholarship.Β  Adoptees are only allowed to receive a partial scholarship a maximum of 2 times from each university.Β

If you have received a partial scholarship from G.O.A.’L. or through any other organization (i.e. adoption agency) for 2 semesters, you are UNABLE to apply for this scholarship.Β

For example:

Situation Can I apply for this scholarship?

I received a scholarship from G.O.A.’L. to study at Sogang in the spring and summer of 2020. I want to continue my studies at Sogang. NO

You can find the scholarship application during each application period (please refer to the application schedule above) by logging into the membership page (login link on the top of the website).
